At the suggestion of the KK KP/O's "Senior Citizens' Prevention" department, the City of Essen's Senior Citizens' Advisory Council, which is always very cooperative, held its 61st and last meeting of the current electoral term in the council chamber on February 3, 2021, focusing on the topic of "Protection of senior citizens". KHK Ralf Ruttkowski, KK KP/O, Senior Citizens' Prevention Unit, and KHK Tina Bommert, until recently head of the EG Callcenter, explained the phenomenology of current fraud, trickery and pickpocketing crimes against older people and provided valuable crime prevention tips for individual protection. The presentation by KHK Ralf Ruttkowski placed a special focus on eight core prevention messages, jointly developed here in cooperation with KHK Jenny Verhoeven, KK KP/O of the Oberhausen Police Department, which are essential for older people to heed in order to ward off the criminal activities of con artists and tricksters.
The entire meeting of the Senior Citizens' Advisory Council was streamed live on the internet. At the request of many enthusiastic participants in the council chamber and in front of their screens at home, the crime prevention presentations have now been published as a recording on the website of the Senior Citizens' Advisory Council of the City of Essen and are also available here.
